Lastly: have a 6 speed "other car" in the stable to satify the need for stick shifting I'll bring this out in the next drive-!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jun 6, CA. Having owned a 99 F1, I can tell you it was very reliable for me and enjoyable. With a six speed, you have more control launching the car. But once you get moving, there is nothing better performance wise than the F1.
I would not hesitate to drive a F1 in traffic either. Once you learn how to engage the clutch quickly without revving the engine much, you will like it in traffic situations better. The benefit is you can keep your hands on the steering wheel at all times and you can shift full throttle, without letting up on the gas, in a fraction of a second.
If you want to experience everything the car has to offer, go with the F1. The is a performer when revving the engine high. With the F1, I will not hesitate to drop it into 1st rpm full throttle, redline, with neck breaking shift into 2nd full throttle.
Executing this entire process is less than one second. With a 6 speed, I just am not comfortable dropping it into 1st and risking overreving the engine. The oil cooler is also on the nearside and the air-conditioning heat exchanger is on the offside. See both fans function. High temperatures can cause splits near air-injection pipes in thin stainless steel of OEM manifolds.
Inspect both sides. Electrical faults are pricey to rectify so work through all of the items, especially heater and air-con functions. Spider roof operation also moves the seats.
A rattle from the clutch housing area on switch-off means the flywheel needs a rebuild. Connolly hide and trim or composite racing seats to order can be spoilt by plastic panels such as this that go sticky.
Specialists have solutions. Test compressions: one down may indicate a faulty injector over-fuelling and washing the bore, so you may get away with a new liner, but several down indicates the need for a full rebuild. Black exhausts are another sign of high oil consumption and are likely to have clogged the catalytic converters.
Conversely, white exhausts indicate cat failure — as do rattles, so tap them. The F1 was good but clunky by todays standards, the manual sublime. If I was buying an F, I'd go F1, anything before that, manual everytime. JasonSF posts months. Hi, I have had three s, the first two were manual cars and the last one which I still drive is F1.
I have personally done 40, miles in my current F1 and can say it is amazing. Get Karl Verdi to set it up; the change is smooth and fast. My last clutch lasted 19, miles. If you are ever in North Essex drop me a PM and pop by and have a go. I bought an F Had the upgraded TCU Transmission Control Unit fitted and which means you get to tweak a bit with the gear changes. I absolutely love it Puts the tubi to work nicely. Some of my mates have manual s and call me bum boy for having F The TCU also blips the throttle for you during down changes in Sport Mode and from high speeds — which is just fabulous and incredibly addictive.
In the manual transmission F I do this without thinking using the heel- and-toe method but in the it is much more rapid and the noise as you click down the gears is fantastic.
The TCU also blips the throttle for you during down changes in sport mode and from high speeds — which is just fabulous and incredibly addictive. So is the F a good investment? The big question is are the cars overvalued at these levels or will they continue to appreciate?
I think the F is one of the prettiest Ferraris ever built, it has a fabulous engine and is quite modern in terms of comfort and handling. They were quite rare in right hand drive with a total of 1, produced for the UK. I think there are still some enthusiasts buying Fs as their dream car with the expectation that they may make some money on the car in the long term and also the best low mileage cars are being snapped up by collectors.
If I had to decide between keeping either my F or the I would find it very difficult to choose. One question that people often ask and is endlessly debated on the Ferrari forums is which is best, the F or ? Well the answer is dependent on best for what? Both have the prestige of the Ferrari brand.
The F is potentially a little more expensive to service but may offer the best investment opportunity. The in my opinion was undervalued and is now beginning to become more popular, as a result prices are on the increase. If I had to decide between keeping my F or the I would find it very difficult to choose.
