They only allow you to filter out other users on the same channel, so you only hear the radio s you want to hear. Codes on are not a scrambling system!
Refer to page Setting the code to 0 code off allows you to hear all activity on the selected channel, but you must be set to the same code as the other person s to transmit back. For example, you can set the unit channel to 5 and code to 21, then change the channel to 8 and code to 2.

Choosing Scan Current Codes scans only the channel and code combination in memory. Use the Monitor option to listen to a single channel for all activity on the current channel.
